Two new Little League Travel Baseball teams now have a place to play
Holly Springs, GA (February 27, 2007) – Two new Little League Travel Baseball teams now have a place to play, thanks to the City of Holly Springs. Volunteers, with the help of City officials, have spent several Saturdays renovating the J.C. Mullins Baseball Field, located behind Crossroads High/Middle School. On-site amenities include a concession stand, covered dugouts, bleachers for spectators, landscaping and restrooms. The teams have been practicing since New Year's Day, and officially begin their seasons March 1. The 10-year-old team, managed by Tim Bailey, will host 12 home games, with teams visiting from Alpharetta, Ball Ground, Canton, Cumming, and Ellijay. The 8-year-old team, managed by Dusty Ross, will also host 12 home games with local teams. Moreover, several weekend tournaments will take place at J.C. Mullins Baseball Field starting the month of May.
Holly Springs Mayor Tim Downing announced that "Holly Springs is proud to be home of the Express and the city looks forward to many seasons of our youth utilizing the field." Opening day festivities are scheduled to begin at 1:00 on March 3rd. The teams will wear uniforms emblazoned with "Holly Springs Express," in honor of the City's restored train depot, which now serves as the city's Community Center.
About City of Holly Springs:
Located just north of Atlanta in fast-growing Cherokee County, the City of Holly Springs is a five square mile oasis of friendly neighborhoods, thriving businesses, and wonderful early-twentieth century homes and commercial buildings. That depot, now the Holly Springs Community Center, was painstakingly restored by the City in the late 1990's and is a source of immense civic pride for our 6,500 local residents.
About Holly Springs Express Baseball:
